J.D. students are eligible to receive the certificate upon successful completion of all requirements for graduation plus:
Requirements
- Take twelve (12) credit hours of taxation classes;
- Maintain an average of 3.0 or better in tax classes;
- Obtain at least a graduating G.P.A. of 2.5;
- Complete 50 hours (over two (2) filing seasons) of volunteer work for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), which also satisfies the Law and Poverty requirement. Please contact the Pro Bono Coordinator for information about using VITA hours to satisfy the Law and Poverty requirement.
- Skills Requirement: must complete Electronic Tax Research for one skills credit (completion certified by skills coordinator during final graduation audit.)
